An astounding 4 swimmers from Tsawwassen’s Winskill
Dolphins Swim Club were selected to the Canadian Junior National
Team for the 2009-2010! Morgan Mackenzie
(14), Noemie Thomas (13), Meghan
Kwiatkowski (14), and Mckenzie
Summers (14) each earned their spots on National Team with
top performances at the Age-Group National Championships in
Montreal this past July.
Mackenzie’s dual Championship titles in 100m and 200m
Butterfly, a BC record in the 200, made her an shoe-in for the
team. Thomas broke the Canadian record in 100m Butterfly and
won triple silver in Montreal to clench her spot.
Kwiatkowski sprinted her way onto the team as the reigning
Provincial Champion in 50m Freestyle and a finalist at the British
Age-Group Nationals in Sheffield UK. Summers got the nod for
her two silver medals in Montreal in 200m Backstroke and 200m
Breaststroke. Thomas, Kwiatkowski, and Summers all share BC
records in the 4x50 Free and the 4x50 Medley relays.
Mackenzie was also named to the Youth Team for her 200m Butterfly
performance and will partake in an elite Butterfly camp this
December in Montreal.
Only three teams in the country boast more swimmers on the
National Team than Winskill, and subsequently Winskill Head Coach
Tom Rushton was named to the team as Women’s Coach.
This November Canada Cup in Toronto will be the first National Team
meet for these young Dolphins.
