Top 6 at Canada Cup

Winskill Dolphin swimmer Noemie Thomas (13) set a new BC record in the 13-14 girl's 100m Butterfly short course (1:01.02) this past weekend at 2009 Canada Cup in Toronto.  Competing as a member of Team Canada and fresh from an intensive training camp in Etobicoke, Thomas became the youngest female finalist at the meet by placing an impressive 6th in the 100m Butterfly, racing in the company of former Olympians many years her senior.

Fellow Winskill Dolphins Mckenzie Summers (14) and Meghan Kwiatkowski (14) also competed at the meet, Kwiatkowski as a member of the elite Team Canada delegation and Summers in her first Senior National competition.

Winskill Coach Tom Rushton had this to say about his athletes’ performances: “[Canada Cup] was a learning experience on how to race against the best in the country period.  We're already looking at the next meet and what we can do better and it’s that sort of drive and objectivity that makes Winskill swimmers very good.”

Congratulations Dolphins!
